Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a joint disorder characterized by swelling.  A joint is an area of the body where two different bones meet. Joints are found in the knees, hips, fingers and other areas of the body that bend to ease movement. There are many types of arthritis, one of which is called osteoarthritis.

Ursula Andress, actress and former 'Bond Girl'

I knew very little about osteoporosis before I was diagnosed. When I found out I was shocked and refused to believe it! As far as I was concerned, osteoporosis was not for someone like me, a former Bond girl who travelled, swam, walked miles every day...I feel lucky that with the help of my doctor I can still be me, living life and doing activities that I want and expect to be able to do.

Worldwide, one out of three women and one out of five men over the age of 50 suffers from osteoporosis. But the good news is that osteoporosis is preventable by eating right, by moving and exercising, and by knowing about it. If you would like to find out more about osteoporosis, visit the International Osteoporosis Foundation's website and take the risk test.
